OLARM
Olarm – The 4G Powerhouse:
The New Standard: Olarm MAX
Since the Olarm PRO is no longer being sold, the Olarm MAX has stepped up as the definitive flagship communicator for the South African market. Built for a world where 2G and 3G networks are disappearing, the Olarm MAX utilizes Dual-SIM 4G and Wi-Fi simultaneously.
This multi-path signal routing means that if your home Wi-Fi drops during a power cut, or if one cellular network is congested, the device instantly finds the fastest available path to send an alert to your phone. It’s “future-proof” security that ensures your alarms systems stay online through the heaviest Stage 6 load shedding.
The Power of the Olarm App
When you buy an Olarm system from We Do Cool Stuff , you aren’t just buying a piece of hardware; you are buying a world-class interface. The Olarm App turns your smartphone into a global keypad.
- Real-Time Logs: Forget cryptic zone numbers. Olarm lets you name your zones (e.g., “Patio Beam” or “Garage Door”) and gives you a live audit trail of exactly who armed the system and when.
- Instant Bypassing: If a garden sensor is acting up due to a storm, you don’t have to leave your bed to fix it. A single tap in the app bypasses the zone so you can re-arm the rest of the house.
- Visual Verification: Modern Olarm setups allow you to link existing RTSP-enabled cameras directly into the app, allowing you to see why an alarm was triggered without switching between different apps.
Expanding with Olarm LINK
For those who want to move beyond just alarms systems, the Olarm LINK is the perfect add-on. By connecting the LINK to your primary Olarm communicator, you can bring your entire property under one app.
- Gate & Garage Control: Open your driveway gate for a delivery or check if you remembered to close the garage door.
- Smart Lighting: Trigger outdoor security lights the moment your alarm is armed.
- Electric Fence Monitoring: Olarm is fully compatible with Nemtek energizers, allowing you to monitor fence voltage and receive tamper alerts directly on your phone.

Why does Olarm require a monthly subscription?
Every Olarm device (like the MAX) comes with two built-in SIM cards (typically MTN and Vodacom). The subscription covers:
Dual-SIM Data: Ensuring your alarm stays online if one network or your Wi-Fi fails.
Unlimited App Users: You can invite up to 47 secondary users at no extra cost.
Firmware Updates: Your device automatically receives the latest security patches over-the-air.
How do I change the Primary user on the Olarm?
Changing the Primary User (Olarm App)
Steps:
Tap Menu (≡) → Device Setup
Select Users
Find the user you want as Primary
Tap the Settings (⚙️) icon next to their name
Select Set Primary to confirm
Important:
Once changed, this cannot be undone, and you will lose access to the device settings.
Can I see which specific zone triggered my alarm?
Yes. Unlike older radio-link systems that just send a general “Burglar” signal, Olarm provides a Real-Time Activity Log. You will receive a push notification naming the exact zone (e.g., “Dining Room Window”) the moment it is triggered. You can also “Bypass” a faulty zone directly from your phone to ensure you can still arm the rest of the house
Is Olarm compatible with my existing alarm panel?
Olarm remains the most compatible smart upgrade in SA, supporting over 25 panels:
IDS: 805, 806, X16, X64. (Note: Most IDS models require a specific Olarm Adapter).
Paradox: MG5050, SP6000, and the EVO series.
Texecom: Premier and Premier Elite.
DSC: PowerSeries and Neo
Electric Fences: Nemtek (Druid and Merlin).
