  • Remote Management: Installers can perform remote diagnostics and log viewing without a site visit.

Yes. Centurion Systems has committed to supporting the discontinued SMΔRT operators for the foreseeable future. This includes technical support, servicing, repairs, and the availability of spare parts, ensuring that current installations remain operational and maintained.

No. The original SMΔRT operators will remain available through distributors and branches as long as current stock lasts. Once that inventory is depleted, manufacturing will shift entirely to the SMΔRT+ range.

Can I use a steel rack with the D3 SMART+?

The D3 SMART+ is specifically designed for use with nylon racks. Consequently, it is not compatible with steel racks because the drive pinion is optimized for nylon. Furthermore, using a steel rack can damage the motor and void your warranty

Yes. The SMART+ range includes an onboard Nova Helix receiver.

  • Storage: The D3 SMART+ can store up to 32 remotes, while the D5 EVO SMART+ can store up to 1,500 remotes, making the D5 EVO the only choice for large complexes.

  • Management: You can name each remote in the app (e.g., “Gardener,” “Tenant 1”), allowing you to delete individual lost remotes without wiping the whole system.

The motor itself features a built-in vibration sensor that can trigger an alarm if someone tries to tamper with or crowbar the unit. However, for physical protection, we highly recommend adding the Centurion SMART Theft-Resistant Cage from our store. The D5 Evo SMART is designed specifically to fit this new cage, which features a patented design to prevent criminals from reaching the manual override.

Unlike the D3 or D5evo which run on a 12V system, the D6 SMART is a 24V motor.

  • The Setup: The two batteries included in your kit are connected in series to provide 24V of power.

  • The Benefit: A 24V system is much more efficient. It allows for higher gate speeds, more frequent daily cycles (duty cycle), and better torque for heavier 600kg gates without overheating the motor.

Can I use a Toshiba "Internal" drive as an "External" backup?

Yes, but you will need a SATA-to-USB enclosure.

  • Performance: Internal drives (like the Toshiba P300) are built for SATA connections, which are faster than USB.

  • Heat: Internal drives lack the cooling casing of external models. If using one in an enclosure, ensure it has proper ventilation to avoid overheating during large file transfers.

Storage time depends on your camera resolution and “AI Coding” (H.265+).

  • 1TB Drive: Typically stores about 7–10 days for a standard 4-camera 2MP (1080p) system.

  • 2TB Drive: Doubles your history to roughly 15–20 days.

  • Pro-Tip: If you use “Motion Only” recording instead of “Continuous,” you can often triple these numbers.

Standard PC hard drives are designed to run for only 8 hours a day. In contrast, Dahua and Hikvision DVRs run 24/7. Because the S300 is built for ‘Relentless Reliability,’ it can handle constant recording without dropping frames

  • The S300 Difference: Toshiba’s surveillance range is built for “Relentless Reliability.” It can handle up to 64 high-definition cameras simultaneously and is rated for 24/7 operation with specialized firmware to prevent frame drops.

  • The Result: A standard drive will likely fail within 6 months in a DVR; a Toshiba S300 is built to last years in the same environment.

Most modern cameras (Dahua, Hikvision, EZVIZ) support up to 256GB, so a 64GB Hikvision card is a perfect “sweet spot” for most users.

  • Compatibility: Ensure your camera supports microSDXC (standard for 64GB and up).

  • Formatting: If the camera doesn’t see the card, it usually needs to be “Initialized” or “Formatted” via the camera’s mobile app (DMSS or Hik-Connect) first.
